Herman Rhode
Herman has over 12 years of professional public sector financial management consulting experience, is a Director of The Centre for Higher Education Financial Management (CHEFM) and a former Executive Director Finance of the University of the Western Cape. Currently he is the Acting Chief Operation Officer for the University of Monash.
His career prior to consulting includes project management of financial reporting projects, operational efficiency improvement assignments and broad general management experience. His primary consulting focus areas are corporate strategy, business process re-engineering, maintenance, financial management, and feasibility reviews. Industry sector experience includes local public entities and higher education institutions, e.g. he was appointed by the Minister of Education as part of a team to restore stability at the University of the North, where he was responsible for reviewing and implementing corporate and financial governance frameworks, plus managing Finance, Campus Development and Facilities Management.
He also assisted the Council on Higher Education (a public entity), which advises the Minister of Education on issues in Higher Education, to implement the requirements of the Act. Focus areas included government and industry co-operation, funding mechanisms and the design and implementation of the financial governance framework.
